Setting up an indigo vat is an act of dedication - the most magical and temperamental of natural dyes, indigo needs to be looked after with attention and patience, just like a living being. Drawing on years of research with artisans and our own experience with natural indigo processes, this two-day online workshop has been created as a set-wise introduction to setting up and maintaining a natural indigo studio vat, finishing with a session on using our vat for basic yarn and fabric dyeing techniques.

To complete your workshop experience, add the Nila DIY Kit with everything you need to begin your journey with indigo.

DAY 1: Set up a 5 litre indigo vat using lime powder as the base and tamarind as the reducing agent.

DAY 2: Explore the various dyeing possibilities with your indigo vat. Discover shibori, tie-dye, yarn dyeing, and dip dyeing processes.

Visit our online shop to register for the workshop.

Registrations close on 9th June, 6:00 PM IST / 1.30 PM BST
